SOUP FOR THE SOUL
Scripture, after all, takes food seriously. Eating food together is a bonding experience, so it is no surprise that when Moses went up to the mountain to be with God in Exodus 24, the people of Israel beheld God's glory. And then they had supper. They ate and they drank, and I bet someone brought some soup along. Breaking bread, and even slurping soup, is part of our faith. When members of our Church community become ill and are hospitalized, we pray for them. We also would like to offer them something else to help them get back on their feet. Soup. On the day that one of our parishioners returns or is returning from the hospital, we will deliver one quart of soup for each family member living in the house.
